A student from Takeley has gained a conditional Oxbridge offer.

Hannah Waring was one of four Year 13 pupils from Hockerill Anglo-European College to receive the offer, and will go on to read Modern and Medieval Languages at Homerton College, Cambridge.

Meanwhile, Hockerill Anglo-European College, in Bishop’s Stortford, was recognised as the top comprehensive in England for EBacc, top five for five A*-C including English and Maths, and top three for average GCSE point score following last week’s publication of the Department for Educations’ annual performance data for 2013.

The English Baccalaureate score, which the Government now uses as a key performance measure for GCSEs, was 84 per cent, the highest score achieved by an English Comprehensive school.

A number of students from the Broadcast patch added to the school’s success, including Anna Spivack, from Stebbing, with nine A*s and one A and Poppy Putnam, from Dunmow, with eight A* and three A.
