A golf club member has come to the aid of a Saffron Walden charity after donating the proceeds from a year of fundraising.
Sue Knight, last year’s lady captain at Bishop’s Stortford Golf Club, chose Guide Dogs for the Blind as her charity of the year. On Saturday, she presented Michael Bradley, organiser of Guide Dogs Saffron Walden, with a cheque for £2,500 – the largest received by the branch.
Sue organised a mixed tournament in August, which raised £920, and continued to receive donations from members. She was presented with a framed picture of a guide dog and will be able to name one of the next batch of puppies at the national breeding centre.
A spokesman for Guide Dogs Saffron Walden said: “We thank Sue for her wholehearted support.
“We also hope that other golf club captains will follow her example and choose Guide Dogs as their charity of the year.”
