Arthur Daley’s famous 1981 Daimler Sovereign and Terry McCann’s Ford Capri from ITV’s Minder series will go on sale with H&H Classics on Wednesday, April 20.

The Daimler has recently been re-finished and it is believed that actor George Cole, who played Daley in the hit programme, wanted to buy the car himself before it was given away in a TV Times competition.

The car, which has nearly 44,000 miles on the clock, is expected to sell for £35,000 to £45,000.

McCann’s white two-litre Ford Capri, which was driven by actor Dennis Waterman in the opening sequence and during the series, is estimated at between £65,000 to £85,000.

The 1977 Capri, which has done 88,700 miles, is believed to come close to being crushed before restoration, and if it reaches its estimate, it would potentially be a new world record for a two-litre model.

The original Minder ran for 10 series’ between October 29, 1979 and March 10, 1994.

James McWilliam, from H&H Classics, said: “Both cars have been sympathetically restored and estimated to make allowance for their small screen history.

“We know from past experience that playing a major role in a TV series can have a big impact on value as witnessed by the 1976 Jaguar XJ12C that we sold last October which made a record breaking £69,440 despite needing total restoration due to its ‘New Avengers’ TV provenance.

“These cars are celebrities in their own right.”
