STUDENTS at Felsted School are to visit Germany on a hockey tour next month and will compete against some of the country's strongest club sides.

However, Felsted is fortunate in having a top German player as one of its star players.

Felsted School has fixtures planned in Hamburg, Bremen and Berlin between Sunday October 29 and Friday November 3.

One of Felsted's key players is Carl Sassenrath, aged 16 from Neuss, who has represented Germany at Under-16 level.

Felsted is delighted to have his sporting skills in their team this season and next year, the school will welcome Moritz Runtzi from Mönchen Gladbach as a pupil to the school, and he too has already played for a junior German team.

Over recent years, several talented German pupils have played for the school's first team, including Nicklaus Friedmann from Bremen and Fabian Bauwens-Adenaeur from Cologne, who have since represented Germany in international matches.

Hockey master, Mark Surridge said: "We are fortunate our former German players will be able to help us to arrange many of our fixtures.
