HIGH Barn in Great Bardfield rocked on Saturday as Darwyn filled the venue with a noise that many five-piece bands would be pleased to achieve.
The three-piece group from Haverhill played a set that lasted a little more than an hour and made full use of the venue's ability to absorb sound.
Stage manager, Simon Allen, said: "The sound the group were able to get across was amazing. There's just a piano, a guitar and a drummer; No bass, no backing vocals but they filled the room.
"They played a set of hard, powerful acoustic rock. Their tunes are very catchy, and quite melodic."
The crowd were left calling for more but Darwyn did not grace the stage to satisfy their fans.
"Sometimes, it is better to leave people wanting more," said Mr Allen.
Mawkin play High Barn this Friday. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7.50 and are available from www.high-barn.com or by telephoning 01371 811291.
