IT WAS good to see the Broadcast taking an interest in the proposal to open a juice bar and internet cafe in Dunmow.

The planning and implementation of the project will be lead on by a management committee of 11 to 19 year olds chosen from among the 47 who have volunteered their services.

These energetic young people have already demonstrated their interest in doing something to improve facilities and opportunities in their town by stepping up to get involved.

As well as offering an 'alcohol-free zone' in the night-time economy and training opportunities for young people, the cafe will have something for all.

Local residents and visitors to the town will be able to enjoy freshly-made fruit smoothies and healthy snacks sourced from local suppliers. As a bonus there will be free internet access through PCs and WiFi.

Voluntary and community groups can take advantage of a free venue for a meeting or training.

Young parents can enjoy five minutes peace' while their toddlers take part in fun activities.

Older citizens and disabled people will find the premises accessible, welcoming and helpful.

This project is about providing new services to the whole of Dunmow, while also filling a gap in the expressed needs of local young people.
