AT THE latest AGM of the Dunmow Society I heard a very good presentation from one of our leading district gurus about recycling.
Sue Barker said that Uttlesford District Council has to pay out £40 a tonne (give or take a few pounds) to get the paper sorted out when it is collected from our wheelie bins.
On the other hand, newspapers and magazines, which are placed in the large containers outside Tesco and the Co-op, the district council is credited with £40 a ton from the paper mills.
If we all did this perhaps our local taxes would dramatically drop!!
