I WANTED to say how terribly sad I feel following your front page on the death of Alec Saunders Labourer found in burnt-out caravan.

I did not know the man personally but for anyone to feel they can no longer cope with life and to die in such tragic circumstances is just awful, especially when people's quotes proved that he was such a popular man in the village.

I feel the picture of Mr Saunders should remain in The Bull Inn pub so that his memory lives on. All too often, as I have found in my own family, people take down the pictures of lost loved ones and don't talk about them for fear of upsetting people.

When we lose the people we love we should celebrate their life and let them live on in our memories.

I hope people will organise an event to mark Mr Saunders' great contribution to the village.
