I WOULD like to thank all the generous people who supported the coffee morning held last Friday (28th September) at 'The Cafe in the Alley' at Sweetland's Butchers in Great Dunmow.

The total raised this year for Macmillan Cancer Support is £1401.89. It never ceases to amaze me how the pounds add up!

As usual, I had my trusty band of helpers who worked so hard - Alison, Bernadette, Connie, Jayne, Lois, Olive and Veronica. In addition to the 'miscellaneous goods' table, there were two new attractions this year - taster reflexology

sessions from Caroline and lots of plants. This event is growing!

The atmosphere of the morning was greatly enhanced by Les, who entertained us all with his accordian playing and Richard, Great Dunmow's town crier, who advertised the event in the town centre. Thanks also go to Lyn and Joan from Macmillan Cancer Support and Tom and Chris from BBC Essex Radio for coming along and putting the event on air.

All the raffle prizes were donated by customers, suppliers and just very kind people.

The same with the cakes, pies, apples and pears! They came streaming in and were soon snapped up by sweet-toothed supporters.

The money kept pouring in, even from those people who were unable to attend the coffee morning.

'The Cafe in the Alley' would not be possible without the support of Peter, my boss, who for the seventh year running has allowed me to disrupt his staff and shop on the last Friday of September.

THANK YOU to all who contributed to such a wonderful total.
