THE Dunmow Carnival Procession Committee would like to thank everyone involved in this year's carnival for making the day such a great success.

It was a wonderful day for Dunmow and well supported throughout the town.

There are too many people to thank individually, but the committee would like to say a special thank-you to David Heywood for his help with the bunting and to Louise and her team at Cuts Both Ways for looking after our Queen and Princesses on Saturday - the girls looked beautiful.

Our congratulations go to the winners of each procession category and to the winners of our first shop window display competition.

Congratulations also to the events committee for providing another great programme of entertainment.

The committee would also like to thank our chairman Keith Wheatcroft and his wife Val for their time and hard work in putting this years carnival together.

We will also be losing two valued members of our committee this year, Cheryl Vale, who has been with us for the last seven years and Kathleen Cooper, who will be moving away from the area.

We thank you both for your help and support.

The final figure for the street collection is not yet available, but half of the collection will be presented to the Dunmow Alzheimers Association. The other half will, for the first time be used towards financing the 2008 carnival, as the event becomes increasing expensive to stage each year.

We look forward to seeing you all again at next year's carnival day, which will be held on Saturday September 20 and if you enjoyed this year's carnival and would like to become more involved, please contact us at dunmowcarnival@hotmail.co.uk
