I FEEL I must write regarding the article 'Near miss prompts school crossing plea'.
I cannot believe Mr Gilbert's reaction to his son running into the road outside Great Dunmow Primary School.
Is he suggesting the lollipop person for crossing the main road or the teachers' entrance as pictured on the front page.
I have been driving past the school every day, at school run time, for the past year and have never seen anybody attempting to cross the main road on their way to the school.
If he does mean the teachers' entrance I have very rarely seen any cars entering there.
Would a safe place to cross have stopped his son from wandering into the road?
Perhaps he should focus his efforts on teaching his five-year-old son road safety.
I would like to add that if a crossing is needed it should be between North Street and the Helena Romanes School as their pupils only have two road islands by which to cross a very busy road.
