HOW lovely to see those pictures of the old Kinema in the Broadcast ('Memories of the Dunmow Kinema', July 31). They brought back wonderful reminders of the days when I did my courting in the back row, although I couldn't tell you what movies were playing - we weren't watching it!
The manager there certainly went to town when one of the big films came in and me and my friends flocked in to see it. But we didn't notice any of the manager's 'technology' creations, as in your story last week. That was part of the beauty of it - you never noticed what was going on in the background.
I'm glad Mr Baines is still well and I'm looking forward to the new cinema starting up again, although I will only go with my husband this time!
