I read with interest the letter from Cllr John Murphy, most of which seemed to make sense.
However, I must take issue with his remarks about troublemaking hooligans. He said: "As a resident of the High Street I can assure you that troublemaking hooligans come in all shapes, sizes and ages. In fact, the main determining factor seems to be access to alcohol rather than the existence of a skate park".
Well I am a resident of the High Street, and I am astounded Cllr Murphy is blaming the access to alcohol for hooliganism. Is he not a member of Uttlesford District Council which granted the extended licensing hours, thereby increasing that access?
