I am writing to you in respect of the article in the Broadcast in relation to the housing applications in The Causeway ('Councillors to fight three applications').

I have recently been e-mailing the local Highways Agency and the local Safer Neighbourhood police officers to highlight the issues this area is suffering in relation to the ever increasing traffic flow along the B184 at The Causeway. It is clear offences of speeding and other traffic related matters are being targeted by them.

I have not yet received any response from the Highways Agency other than they will look at the road signs in the area.

Your article has caused myself even further concern as to the impact these new houses will have on the conservation area on top of the ever increasing traffic problems we suffer.

I have read that housing development is down across the whole country as building contractors struggle to sell units already completed.

So I am very surprised to learn the building companies are seeking planning permission at this time, and I am even more concerned that once built, these houses will either stand empty or be sold off to one of the many London Boroughs who are looking to rehome people outside London as it is cheaper.

Its also alarming to see that we, as stated, are experiencing traffic problems in The Causeway and I dare say Dunmow as a whole, but nothing appears to be done by the local councils to address the issue of the Woodlands development.

There are houses not selling on this site (and they still want to build more), which in turn brings a further delay to the trunk road that would relieve, the area of The Causeway from traffic problems.

It appears the contractor has the council by the short and curlys!

This is a beautiful old market town, it would appear that either the government or greedy building companies want to do nothing more than build cheap and nasty houses as quickly as possible to solve a housing problem, which quite frankly I find hard to believe we have. Go build in your own area, developers.
