SIMPLY - No to out of town development. Many people move to Dunmow attracted by the small town environment and the absence of self-replicating High Street stores to be found in every other town in Britain, which bring with them a complete lack of individuality.
What we must do is support our local shopkeepers. An out of town development would no doubt have the usual negative repercussions on the existing High Street shops.
I am sure the majority of people in Dunmow do not want more out of town shopping. What they would like is the retail space in the High Street used properly.
That is, no more charity shops or bookmakers. It would be interesting to know Uttlesford's thinking behind this idea - who will it benefit?
