I am writing in response to a letter put in this column regarding my very dear uncle, Alec Saunders.

I and everyone around him knows that Alec would never have committed suicide as suggested by this person.

So I write to say I and my family along with his very dear friends take great offence to this assumption, especially as even the brilliant people who are investigating this don't think that this is what happened.

Everyone who knew Alec would tell you he enjoyed life and his especially being around and helping his friends.

There is no way he would even have contemplated it, especially as he loved nothing more than a good knees-up on his birthday, and for him not to be there to celebrate any more would anger and upset him.

I would appreciate it if you would publish this as this is a most difficult time for us all and this letter would have no doubt upset a lot of people including me.
