As we roll into 2018, we have taken a look back – in pictures – at what the news brought us during the last year.

While there were plenty of sad moments not least nationally – with terrorist attacks in London and Manchester and the Grenfell Tower tragedy – and locally with lives lost on our roads, we have selected some of the happier times enjoyed by people in Dunmow and its beautiful surroundings.

Whether it was the time a 1,400 ducks floated down a river, or the Christmas light switch on, there have been light-hearted moments in the news.

Dunmow Broadcast: April: 1st Rayne Scouts held their annual duck race. Around 1,400 ducks took part, and the event raised nearly £1,500 for the group. This was a difficult task; with so many great stories in each edition it was hard to pick just one picture from each month, but that is what we have done.

Dunmow Broadcast: May: The annual match between Thaxted Rangers and school mates of Ethan Linwood, who died in a crash in 2012.
