I WOULD like to address the article about the new shop in Shalford ('Village shop is ready to open', Broadcast, September 4).

I have been trading here in Wethersfield for 14 years and since the shop in Shalford closed some eight years ago I have done my utmost to help the people of Shalford.

I was most disturbed to read that people from Shalford had to travel to either Braintree or Dunmow to get the simple basics ie milk or newspapers.

I am here within two miles of Shalford and sell everything a general store sells, from newspapers, milk, bread, vegetables, alcohol, groceries and of course I am also a Post Office.
