THE Independent group is saddened by the additional shortfall of £360,000, which has been identified by a rigorous budget re-examination process at Uttlesford District Council.

This may lead to the need for more staff redundancies at the UDC - a serious situation exists but one that can be rectified. All political parties must work together towards a positive outcome.

We sympathise with the anxiety the staff must be feeling and are hopeful with the large number of current vacancies, that the number of redundancies will be kept to a minimum.

As a group we will work with the staff and administration to achieve a firm financial foundation for the future of Uttlesford District Council.
