Rail fares from Stansted to London have always been disproportionately high on a distance basis. Successive train companies seem only to want to fleece hapless visitors to Britain and discourage locals. So much for the benefits of privatisation.

It is indeed laughable for NE to claim their Stansted service is 'premium'. The rolling stock is old and the carriage interiors dirty and frankly often in a disgusting state. The signage for different nationalities is minimal and as a gateway for visitors to Britain the service is a disgrace.

Given the virtual rail and coach monopoly that NE enjoys at Stansted, one can only suggest that commuters try the very reasonably priced express coach services to London provided by Terravision or Easyjet and force NE out of its corporate complacency.
