Sometimes there might be a clear case for publishing a letter anonymously. This was not the case with the letter from "Name and address supplied" on July 6.

The writer is guilty of being slanderous to council personnel.

I do not require three wheelie bins as I compost everything from the garden and kitchen that it is possible to; and I have also been disposing of recyclable rubbish at the depot in Thaxted Road since it was called an "Amenity Point".

I spoke to a very helpful and understanding lady from the council and there was no difficulty obtaining agreement that I shall have only the bin for non-recyclable items.

She and her colleagues have not been 'underhand' in any way, as the letter-writer asserted, and everyone in Uttlesford has been given plenty of warning of the changes that are to take place in refuse collection.
