I FELT compelled to write to share a recently experienced, inexpensive evening of wholesome family entertainment. In this day and age something we are all hard pushed to find!

The source of this well earned commendation? The Dunmow Pantomime Group's 2007 production of Puss in Boots.

My three-year-old daughter was awestruck by the wonderful dancers. My six-year-old was intrigued by the antics of Doodles the Donkey. My (ahem)-year-old mum, with herself a lifetime of amateur dramatics behind her, was delighted by the whole spectacle.

And I, myself, was thrilled, amazed and inspired by what unfolded before me. I was cast back to my childhood, booing, cheering and 'he's behind you'-ing with gusto.

It was everything we had hoped for, yet far, far more than we could have ever expected.

It was a pantomime how pantomimes should be, like it used to be before it became a battle of celebrity.

It contained everything we would expect to see: Beautiful heroines, thigh-slapping heroes, extravagant dames, boundless comedy, audience participation by the bucket load and, of course, the compulsory pantomime horse.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the fantastic Dunmow Pantomime Group to readers of all ages and interests.

My only criticism, there has to be one, is that we have to wait a whole year for the next production.

BRAVO!
