Nominations are open for businesses and individuals to be entered into the Uttlesford Business Awards 2024.

This is the second time Uttlesford District Council has held the awards, which recognise businesses and business people for their innovation and excellence.

The awards are free to enter and nominees can be entered in 12 categories, with a range of prizes for the winners.

Award categories are Best for Innovation and Customer Focus, Uttlesford Rising Star, Marketing Champion, Community Impact, Sustainability Award, Made in Uttlesford, Taste of Uttlesford, Retailer of the Year, Health, Beauty and Wellbeing, Hospitality Business of the Year, Tourism Business of the Year, Service Business of the Year and Uttlesford Business of the Year.

Tom Cannon, of Cannon Architectural Design Ltd. in Thaxted - who won Uttlesford Rising Star last year - said: "I was very pleased to have won the award. I would advise any local business, no matter what industry, to participate as it’s a great way to receive recognition for your hard work and efforts.

"It’s also a fantastic way to market your services."

Jack Etherington of DEAD Time Beers in Saffron Walden, which won Retailer of the Year, added: "Winning the award really helped put the word out that we exist.

"It brought us new customers and acclaim that we could shout about on social media."

Cllr Neil Hargreaves, portfolio holder for finance and the economy, said: "We’re excited to once again be running these awards to recognise and celebrate the achievements of businesses in the district.

Entries close at midnight on January 14, and shortlisted entries will be announced on January 31.

The winners will be announced in an awards ceremony at the end of February.
