Enhanced banking services have officially opened at Dunmow Post Office, as part of a pilot scheme launched across the UK.

Dunmow was selected for the scheme after cash access and cash machine network LINK identified the need for enhanced cash deposit services following bank branch closures in the town.

These enhancements, which are opening at 15 Post Office branches nationwide, range from the introduction of new note counting machines to the installation of priority banking counters with improved privacy.

Saffron Walden MP Kemi Badenoch visited the Post Office at 23 High Street, Dunmow to see the new services in action.

She said: "The newly refitted enhanced banking service looks great and the reduced waiting times will make it easier for small businesses to quickly deposit their takings, whilst not eating into their productivity.

"I really want to thank the team at Dunmow Post Office for operating the enhanced branch – it’s a big improvement for their regular banking customers and the team are very keen to continue to offer a first-class service to the community."

The improvements build on the existing banking services already available at the Post Office, including cash deposits and withdrawal services.

Post Office area manager Thakoor Maraj said: "The enhanced banking services have thoroughly improved the efficiency of our branch.

"Busy small business owners as well as our regular personal banking customers can now access a much quicker service, with less queuing times.
