FOLLOWING the success of MazeMusic in March, Saffron Walden Choral Society is hosting a Summer Prom entitled ‘Jubilee’ at St Mary’s Church Saffron Walden on Saturday June 16, at 7.30pm.

In celebration of the Diamond Jubilee, the choir performs a rousing programme of royal music, including Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Handel’s Coronation Anthems: Zadok the Priest and The King Shall Rejoice, along with Walton’s Coronation Te Deum and other proms favourites.

Choral classics such as Parry’s I was glad and Jerusalem begin the Prom-style finale. There will be plenty of opportunity to join in the choruses and wave a Union Jack.

Janet Wheeler conducts, and the choir is accompanied by the New Professionals Orchestra and Richard Carr on organ and keyboard.

Internationally acclaimed soprano and Walden resident Ann-Helen Moen is joined by a team of young professional soloists - Carris Jones (mezzo) Benedict Hymas (tenor) and Philip Tebb (bass).

Tickets: £15 (concessions £12, accompanied under 18s £1) available from Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre, SWCS ticket secretary Linda Pollard on 01799 530759, e-mail tickets@swchoral.org.uk, from SWCS members, by debit/credit card purchase from wegottickets.com or at the door.

The concert will be repeated a week later, Saturday June 23, at St John’s Church in Stansted.

Tickets all at £10 (accompanied under 18s £1) from St John’s Church Office 01279 815243, Stansted Carpets 01279 812019, Sarah Ludlow-Elston 01279 814376, wegottickets.com or at the door.
