The Gruffalo will come to call this autumn, at Chelmsford Civic Theatre this month and Cambridge Arts Theatre in November. Theatre Group Tall Stories bring the stage adaptation of Julian Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s classic children’s book.

Mouse takes a stroll through a deep, dark wood searching for hazelnuts. Mouse meets the cunning fox, the eccentric owl and the party mad snake, will the story of the terrifying Gruffalo save mouse from becoming dinner for these hungry woodland creatures?

Suitable for children aged three and above and their grown-ups. At the Civic, September 19, (1.30pm and 4.30pm) and September 20 (10.30am and 1.30pm). Tickets, £12 from www.chelmsford.gov.uk/theatres or 01245 606505.

The Gruffalo’s Child is at Cambridge Arts Theatre from November 15-19. Again, the scene is the dark wood, the child ignore’s her father’s warning and goes out into the snow. Shows 10.30am and 1.30pm various days. Tickets, 01223 503333 or www.cambridgeartstheatre.com.
