The REAL Family Fun Day is back for its 5th year at Saffron Walden Football Club on Sunday, April 30, and this year it will be free to enter.

It will include a football tournament for some 200 youngsters, including under sixes, under sevens and under eights in the morning from 9.30am.

There will be other matches from 1.30pm and 3pm between players from Saffron Walden and Thaxted as well as live music and an inflatable fun zone that is like a village of bouncy buildings.

Scotty’s Circus workshop will be teaching stilt walking and other circus skills.

There will be live music from singer-guitarist Dave Vant and DJ-ing throughout the day will be Graham Harding. Other fun includes dance performances,

face painting and balloon modelling. People of all ages will also be able to test their football skills.

The event is being organised by The Ethan Rees Linwood Memorial Fund, set up in 2013 in memory of Ethan Linwood from Thaxted who died aged 11. Money raised by his parents, Megan and Bob, has helped youngsters interested in sport and music. They work with Saffron Walden Football Club and the cricket, rugby and snooker clubs in the town as well as the musicians who run Fairycroft House in Saffron Walden and the fund has also set up an anti-bullying project.

Bob said: “We wanted to make the fun day free entry this year. The important thing is that people enjoy themselves. If they do, they will raise money for the fund with their donations.”

The attractions will include traditional holiday food: cakes, sweets, ice cream and candy floss, burgers, hot dogs, a licensed bar and a raffle with prizes including a Bose speaker, inflatable pool and a Kindle.

From 12.30pm until 5pm. Open to all.
