AN emerging eight-piece vocal group, The Australian Voices, will be holding a workshop and concert in Ickleton next week.

The group has been signed by Warner Classics, featured on BBC Radio 3 and is currently doing an 80-gig tour of the UK for the first time in 10 years.

The group will bring its blended choral sound to St Mary Magdalene Church, Church Street on November 8.

They will perform a mixture of sacred choral classics alongside indigenous Australian-inspired music including overtone singing and ancient didgeridoo rhythms.

In addition to the concert, members are offering a unique opportunity for local singers and choirs interested in learning and singing to join them in a workshop before the performance. The event is free with purchase of a ticket.

Tickets, £15 (£12 concession/£6 students), from 020 3286 6786, theaustralianvoices.com; or on the door. Doors open at 7.30pm.
