Uncle Funk and the Boogie Wonderband to play at Rhodes Arts Centre

Uncle Funk and the Boogie Wonderband will be at Rhodes Arts Centre on Saturday, April 1 for a night of glittering disco and foolery on April Fool’s Day.

The band have been celebrating 1970s disco music for 25 years. For them, the 70s have never ended. They have headlined the Sensation Seeks Stage at Glastonbury. They are due back at Glasto this summer.

Between them, the members of Uncle Funk and The Boogie Wonderband have recording, performance and touring credits with artists including Amy Winehouse, Take That, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, The Jacksons, Kylie Minogue, Human League, Soul II Soul, Rumer, Omar, Jamie Cullum , The Drifters, Eartha Kitt, Larry Addler, Imelda Staunton, Beverley Knight, Snarky Puppy, Gregory Isaacs, Dame Shirley Bassey, Dionne Warwick and Andrea Bocelli.

The orchestras they worked with included the Royal Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Welsh National Orchestra, Nelson Riddle Orchestr, Len Phillips Big Band,BBC Big Band, Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Glenn Miller UK and Herb Miller.

Dress up and return to the decade of big hair and flares.
