Leading drag artiste Tiffaney Wells will be the star of the show at a ladies night being organised as part of Saffron Walden Rugby Club’s fund-raising drive.

The event is a follow-on from the hugely successful ‘Boys Behind the Balls’ naked calendar featuring players from the club.

Some of the ‘stars’ of the calendar will be at the event being staged at the club on Friday, March 14 as part of the 50th anniversary fund-raising campaign Fifty50 which has just topped £30,000.

Kate Ebbens of the organising team said: “The fund-raising calendar sparked huge interest and was great fun to be involved in.

“The ladies night will be a good opportunity to meet some of the extraordinary – and some not so extraordinary – ‘boys’ behind those balls and to thank them in person for being such good sports.”

Tiffaney Wells, whose live show combines sharp comedy, extraordinary singing talents and stunning outfits, has been booked for the evening’s entertainment.

Tickets are £20 each or £200 for a table of 10, including welcome drink, three-course meal and goody bag.

Tickets can be ordered by e-mailing Kate Ebbens on

• Preparations are also well underway for a grand Rugby and Beer Festival on Saturday, April 26 to formally close the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

As well as four Greene King regional cup final games to watch, organisers have sourced a wide range of beers and ciders from across the UK.

The event will also include a barbecue and entertainment will be provided by a number of local bands. For more information, visit
