This year’s free Dance in the Square in Saffron Walden on August 26, (Bank Holiday Saturday) will be a 15th anniversary celebration organised by the Saffron Walden Initiative. It will feature Uncle Funk and the Boogie Wonderband supported by singer Darren Stammers and the performing arts group Stagecoach.

Uncle Funk will play a winning set of disco classics and their musical perfection is matched by their outrageous costumes and energetic show. They have been booked to play at many several summer festivals including this year, once again at Glastonbury.

Some tables and chairs will be put out and refreshments will be provided by the King’s Arms, Giggly Pig, Nikki Nash Cakes and Nigel Sault Master Coffee. The Market Square will be enhanced by the Party Box.

The event is free because it is supported by Saffron Walden Town Council, Uttlesford District Council, Saffron Walden Arts Trust, Hibbs & Walsh, Mullucks Wells, Ridgeons, Saffron Walden Laundry, Waitrose and Walden Capital as well as District Councillors Aisha Anjum, Barbara Light and Sharon Morris.

7.45pm to 10.45pm.
