A BBC Young Chorister of the Year, Agatha Pethers will sing the Pie Jesu solo in a performance of the Faure Requieum at Saffron Hall on Saturday, June 24.

Agatha, who is performing with Saffron Walden Choral Society, was the BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year for 2015.

She has been invited back to Saffron Hall after her debut in September, reviewed by The Guardian as “wonderfully secure and confident” when she sang Woodbird in Saffron Opera Group’s Siegfried.

Since the age of seven, Agatha has sung with the choirs at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge and Little St Mary’s Church in Cambridge. As BBC Chorister of the Year, and with the choirs of St Catharine’s and Little St Mary’s, Agatha has performed regularly on Radios 2, 3 and 4, BBC television, and toured nationally and internationally.

Her singing teacher is the mezzo-soprano Lynette Alcantara, who is also vocal coach to the boys of the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge.

Agatha will join fellow soloist, the baritone Božidar Smiljanić, Saffron Walden Choral Society and Chameleon Arts Ensemble for a programme also including Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro and String Quartet in F major and choral music by Boulanger.

7.30pm. Tickets £10-£20 from 0845 548 7650 or www.saffronhall.com or Saffron Walden Tourist Information in the Market Square, 01799 524002.
