All or Nothing, the Mod musical set to the music of The Small Faces telling the bittersweet story of T Kenney Jones, Ian McLagan, Ronnie Lane and Steve Marriot will be at Chelmsford Civic Theatre from March 29 to April 1.

In 1964, a new phenomenon exploded onto the British social scene. Girls stopped back-combing their hair and boys stopped putting grease on theirs. Skirts got longer and were worn with flat shoes. Whereas rockers had motor bikes, mods had scooters, streamlined Italian Vespas or Lambrettas. The sharpest Mod of all was known as a Face.

The Small Faces encapsulated all that was Mod, a blend of taste and testosterone, neat, clothes obsessed and street-wise. But these cult sophisticates shared another passion, their dedication to rhythm ‘n’ blues.

The show features the music of the Small Faces, including an arsenal of brilliant hits like Whatcha Gonna Do About It, All Or Nothing, Tin Soldier, Lazy Su The band’s tale is one of passion and success, exploitation and tragedy, sharp clothes and killer songs. The Civic Theatre promises to reverberate to Itchycoo Park, Lazy Sunday, Whatcha Gonna Do About It and of course All or Nothing.

7.45pm with a 2,30pm Saturday matinee. Tickets £25 with £23 concessions 01245 606505 or www.chelmsford.gov.uk/theatres.
