Snares Hill Cottage at Duck End, Stebbing will be open on Sunday (June 1) from 10.30am to 4pm as part of the National Gardens Scheme (NGS).

Pete and Liz Stabler have created a magical, hidden garden surrounding their cottage. Journalists from the BBC programme Gardeners World have described it as a “quintessential English garden”.

A beautiful natural swimming pond is bordered by romantic flower beds, herb garden and Victorian folly. A bog garden borders woods and leads to a silver birch copse, beach garden and a ‘Roman’ temple.

Admission is £4, children free. Home-made teas will be available.

Charities supported by the NGS include Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Help the Hospices, Carer’s Trust and Parkinson’s UK.
