TWENTY funny men and women will chuckle-it-out for the title of Chelmsford’s very first Comedian of the Year final.
Acts from across the length and breadth of the UK will have just five minutes to impress the audience and judges for a chance to win a cash prize, the trophy, and a place on the bill at Chelmsford’s comedy club, Comedy Showcase.
Organiser Ben Cormack said: “The competition received a truly overwhelming response, with many hundreds of comics keen to take part. It’s been very difficult to whittle the list down, but what we’ve ended up with is quite astonishing.
“There are numerous acts in the final who are going to make up the next generation of the big-name TV comedians, and to have the chance to see them all together is very exciting!”
The October 25 event is being held at Hooga on Victoria Road at runs from 8-10pm. Admission is free but early arrival is limited. Full details at comedyshowcase.co.uk.
