A SINGING duo with a wealth of experience will be hosting a summer of children’s music workshops.
Joanna Eden and Leigh McDonald will run a programme of summer holiday vocal workshops – called ‘Sing for Summer’ – for youngsters aged 7-16 throughout the six-week break.
“It’s great to see children getting really inspired and pushing their own boundaries – our workshops are a safe place for them to do that,” said Joanna.
Both singers are experienced teachers and performers who have entertained and taught across the region.
Singer-songwriter Joanna is well known in Saffron Walden. She has performed at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Club in London and at the Audley End Picnic Concerts, toured with her band and recorded three albums.
Leigh has over 20 years experience in musical theatre. She is fresh off an international tour of Mamma Mia! and has recently finished working with Bafta-winning actor Dominic West.
The workshops cost £30 per child. To book or find out more, visit joannaeden.com/musicals, or call 01799 526492 or 07729 178464.
• Meanwhile, Leigh and Joanna are holding a charity concert at 7.30pm on Saturday June 30 at Friends’ School, Saffron Walden. The evening of musical theatre and jazz will feature songs by Lloyd Webber, Hamlisch, Sondheim, Bernstein, Boubil, Rodgers & Hart, Lionel Bart and Gerschwin.
Proceeds will go to Homestart Uttlesford, which provides trained volunteers who offer young families with emotional support and practical help, and runs a family group in Saffron Walden where parents and children can meet for friendship, play and mutual support.
Tickets for the concert are £10 (£7 concessions), and are available from Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre (01799 524002) and at saffrontickets.com.
