THERE is still time to enter this year’s Saffron Walden 10K race - which for the second year is “on tour” in nearby Newport.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

The race, organised by running club the Saffron Striders, is on Sunday September 30, at 10.30am. It starts and finishes at Newport Free Grammar School.

For younger runners there is also the return of the popular family fun run which is open to all ages (and parents can run with their children too).

The main 10K starts at 10.30am and follows a mostly off-road course through undulating countryside around the village of Newport. The fun run takes place on the school grounds at 11.45am.

A spokesman for the Saffron Striders said: “Both races are open to the public so whatever your running ability, come along, join in and have fun. We have runners from all abilities, from the top local club athletes to people who just run for fun and to keep fit.

“The 10K has a team competition as well, which is open to running clubs, workplaces and local groups. Entry forms and all the information you need are available on the Striders’ website at saffronstriders.org.uk.

“Alternatively, you can enter at runnersworld.co.uk. We also accept entries on the day but make sure you arrive in plenty of time.”

The race is being held in Newport once again rather than its usual Saffron Walden route because of the ongoing building works at Saffron Walden County High.
