Saffron Stealers 93 Coggeshall Cougars 63

FORTY-five points from Andrew Sherridon proved the difference as Stealers recorded their second win over Coggeshall in four days.

The power forward was a constant threat and routinely found himself with one or two defenders to beat which he did with ease, while Alex Purcell and Anton Jarvis dominated the boards in the latter stages to secure a comfortable win.

Having beaten the Cougars 108-60 on Thursday night the teams were back in action on Sunday. Walden got off to an electrifying start and took a 25-13 lead in the first quarter.

The hosts suffered a five minute meltdown at the start of the second and did not register any points as Coggeshall fought for rebounds and closed the gap to 25-21. Walden called a timeout to regroup and it was Sherridon who got them back on track with a break away score which led to a 37-29 score line at the half.

Having survived the scare, coach Russ Hassleton focused his team on securing rebounds and hitting their field goals - in the second half Walden were close to scoring 70 per cent of their shots.

With a 21 point lead heading into the fourth, Sherridon continued to pile on points to his already impressive performance as Walden slowed the game to seal a good win.
