WALDEN have been so impressed with the play of right back Chris Reid that they are drafting in his replacement.
Reid joined the club this year as a centre back but we quickly moved to right back, where he has carved out a starting spot for himself.
His two goals have not gone unnoticed either – the 22-year-old netted in the 4-2 FA Vase loss to Haverhill Rovers and in a 2-1 defeat against Newmarket Town – and now the management is looking to utilise him in the midfield.
Manager Colin Wallington said: “Nicky [Smith] and I have been really impressed with Reidy but we want to move him to midfield. He is hard, strong, tough and he wins headers – we are missing that in the middle at the moment.
“Plus he can score goals. He can’t do that from defence so we’re looking at moving him forward.”
In order to push Reid forward the club has signed Zac Rayner and Harry O’Malley to fill in the full back positions and is looking at adding Heybridge Swifts’ Ashley Cole to bolster the line up.
Wallington revealed he is expecting to sign Cole this week.
