CLIFF Treadwell has stepped down as chairman of Saffron Walden Town Football Club, the club has announced.
The reasons behind his departure are not yet clear, but the SWTFC committee has placed on record its gratitude to Mr Treadwell for his support and work to help relaunch the club over the last nine months.
“The progress that the club has made - both on and off the pitch - in such a short space of time demonstrates the huge potential of the club which now has over 300 members and returned to senior football in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League this season,” the club said in a statement on its website.
To maintain momentum, the committee agreed that vice chairman Melvyn Seymour should act as chairman until a members’ EGM is held early next year.
If anyone is interested in either serving on the committee or helping as a volunteer on match days, please make contact with the club through the website at info@swtfc.com
