Alex Lynn has praised Formula E’s unpredictability as he prepares for this weekend’s race in Marrakesh.

The race in the Moroccan capital is the third round of the season after the first two races in Hong Kong last month.

Lynn is confident his DS Virgin Racing team can score good points, but says anything can happen.

“We’re pretty confident of scoring some very good points. But the thing about Formula E is you just never know what’s going to happen, it’s so unpredictable,” said Lynn.

“This championship is full of great drivers and teams so we really need to do our job properly.”

The race in Morocco is the second time Formula E has raced in Africa with the first being in the same location last year.

The 24-year-old Lynn spoke of his excitement of racing in both Marrakesh and Africa for the first time in his career.

“What’s cool about Formula E is that we go to places I’d never normally experience. I’ve never been to Morocco before,” he said.

“It is great to have a race in Africa and hopefully it can continue to be an important part of the Formula E calendar for years to come.”

Despite never having raced in Marrakesh, though, Lynn is well aware of the challenge the track brings.

“It’s more of a traditional layout than we’re used to in Formula E,” he added.

“It’s a long track by Formula E standards, and there are a lot of sections where we’re flat-out for quite a long time, from that side it puts more strain on the powertrain.”

This is Lynn’s first full season in Formula E having raced two races in New York last year.

And he is determined to enjoy the experience, even if it does interfere with his holidays.

“I had a lovely family holiday in the Alps, but I didn’t do any skiing,” he said. “Being a Formula E driver means you don’t really get an off-season and I just didn’t want to chance things with a race coming up so soon in the New Year.

“Not that I’m complaining – who wouldn’t want to be a Formula E driver? That’s worth making a few sacrifices for!”

Both qualifying and the race in Marrakesh take place on Saturday. Qualifying will start at 11.45am with the race taking place at 3.30pm.
