Squad training throughout the winter months have paid off for the ladies of Saffron Walden Golf Club in the first Cambs and Hunts interclub knockout of the season.

In the Grace Norman Trophy foursomes competition, playing at home, the pairings of Angela Reed and Elaine Purcell, Kiyoko McLellan and Jayne Fieldhouse, Sue Amiss and Sue Gunter pulled off a win of 2-1 against Girton.

It was an encouraging win for the ladies as they move onto the next county interclub competition, the Jean Wilkinson Trophy, which is in singles matchplay format, the first round to be played at home against Gog Magog.
