More than 200 runners enjoyed the new format of Chilford 10k and Fun Run on Father’s day.
The popular race took a new start yesterday (Sunday) to raise funds for the Friends of LVC.
Runners came to challenge themselves on the new 10K route, going through Chilford Hall and running up to Linton Water tower, while family and younger ones had a go in a two-mile Fun Run with first youngster clocking an impressive 14mins 8ecs and first girl in just 15mins 47secs.
The unexpected hilly or undulating course surprised even local runners. Charles Wartnaby from Cambridge won it in 37mins 6ecs ahead of second runner David Bettinson (37mins 19secs) and Matthew slater (38mins 10secs).
Linton-based runner Fiona Tideswell came back to top form and claimed first lady in 43mins 48secs with WaldenTRI’s Nikki Davies coming under a minute later. The ladies podium was completed with Diane Potter in 46mins 24secs.
Race co-ordinator Stephane Toussenel said: “The great turn out and friendly atmosphere make it all worth the efforts put to organise such event. The race couldn’t happened without local supports from Ashcroft & Sons, Body Design Pilates, The Dog & Duck, Chilford Hall, Iceni Water, Kevin Henry and Sweatshop.”
