Pupils from Takeley Primary School have netted a new football kit, thanks to the Co-operative.

The youngsters received the new kit as part of the Co-operative’s commitment to encouraging more children to get involved in sport and enjoy active and healthier lifestyles in their local communities.

Hanna Barraclough, PE co-ordinator at the school, said: “It was a wonderful surprise to have won such a fantastic prize as our old kit was beginning to wear out. Now the children will look very professional when they attend football tournaments.

“The children were very excited to try out their new kit, thank you to the Co-operative from everyone at Takeley primary.”

Aileen Walters, sponsorship manager at the Co-operative, said: “As a community-based retailer the Co-operative recognises the role it can play in helping children and young people live active and healthier lifestyles at the heart of their own local communities.”

The Co-operative’s grassroots programme consists of a number of projects including Win-a-Kit, all focused on encouraging more children to get involved in sport and enjoy more active and healthier lifestyles.
