Dunmow Rhodes Youth Football Club receive donation from Stansted Airport community fund

YOUNG footballers in Dunmow are set to benefit from a £500 donation from the Stansted Airport Passenger Community Fund.

Last Saturday Dunmow Rhodes Youth Football Club representatives Ricky Valks, chairman, Mark Williamson, development officer, and Ben Hogan, coach of Mini Strikers, were presented with a cheque by Maria North from the fund.

Youngsters at the club also joined the quartet for the cheque handover.

The money will be spent on improving the pitches at The Recreation Ground and its hoped this will benefit all the children in the club and everyone in the community that use the Recreation Area.

Mr Valks said: “Dunmow Rhodes Youth Football Club is a club that offers free, FA approved coaching to the boys and girls of Great Dunmow and surrounding areas.

“Our club is expanding rapidly with 18 teams, starting from Mini Strikers where children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are coached, up to senior and veterans football.

“As our club is a non profit organisation and run by volunteers, a donation like this makes a huge difference to the facilities we can provide.”

Dunmow Rhodes Tigers 3 Boreham Village 1

DUNMOW moved into the next round of the Blackwater and Dengie League Cup after a 3-1 win over Boreham.

They dominated the first half but Boreham took a lead into the break after scoring against the run of play.

Rhodes continued to add pressure and it took an excellent finish from Josh Valks to equalise. Dylan Bennett scored from close range and a fantastic passing move saw Louis Leaning secure the win.
