The Dunmow swimmers travelled the short distance to Saffron Walden on Saturday, to compete against their local rivals, as well as Royston Swimming Club, in a hotly-contested fixture in the swimming calendar.

The biennial event first started in 2011 as part of the Seals’ centenary celebrations, and it sees the two teams compete for the Centenary Trophy.

Dunmow Atlantis club secretary Amanda Simmons said: “The fixture is a firm favourite with us andhas the fierce but friendly rivalry you would expect from a local derby.”

Atlantis took the spoils, running out comfortable winners, with this year’s guest club Royston finishing a worthy third.
