Cricket: Felsted Preparatory School student gets three consecutive centuries for Essex U13 Girls

In a remarkable start to her county summer, Felsted Preparatory School student Nancy Hebron has scored three consecutive centuries for Essex U13 Girls.

It is the first time the feat has been achieved at any level in the history of Essex Women and Girls cricket.

Nancy, 13, from Saffron Walden, scored 100 not out in a friendly at Suffolk, then followed that up with an even more impressive 110 not out against Sussex in the first league match at Garon Park. The third century was her highest score of 141 in the Essex U13 win at Berkshire on May 18.

In each innings Nancy has batted for 30 overs or more, and the Essex U13 girls have won all three matches.

Essex coach Matt Hyam said: “It has been a combination of power, technique and concentration that has got Nancy these scores. Each one has posed different challenges which she has risen to, and has been supported by her teammate’s very well, 100 partnerships in the last two games. Just a fantastic batting performance.”

Jason Gallian, director of cricket at Felsted, said: “It is wonderful to have such talent at Felsted. We work closely with each individual to develop their skills and give them the best opportunities to excel.

“Nancy is a sports scholar where she plays first team in all our core sports. Not only does she play county cricket but also county hockey.

“She is a very talented young lady, and I look forward to seeing her develop over the coming years.”

Nancy has been talent-identified by the England women’s development pathway, and she attended a 50-over game at Loughborough University on May 11. She is also due to tour Abu Dhabi next February, as part of the Emerging Players Programme with Essex Cricket.
