Clocks will go forward an hour tonight as 2014 British Summer Starts on Mothering Sunday.

Mother’s Day falls on March 30 this year, the same day the clocks go forward to signal the end of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), so if you are planning on grabbing your mum a late gift make sure you don’t oversleep.

Clocks go forward an hour from 1am to 2am on Sunday, which means losing an hour of sleep in the morning.

As a result of the change, there will be more daylight in the evenings and less in the mornings.

Clocks will go back an hour on Sunday, October 26 when BST ends and the country reverts to GMT.

And when do the clocks go forward and back in 2015?

The daylight saving time dates for next year are Sunday, March 29 and Sunday, October 25.
