Snares Hill Cottage, at Duck End, Stebbing, has been created by owners Liz and Peter Stabler. It has surprises round every corner and many interesting sculptures. A wonderful natural swimming pool is bordered by romantic flower beds, a herb garden and a Victorian folly. A bog garden borders mature woodland and leads to a silver birch copse, a beach garden and ‘Roman’ temple.

BBC Gardeners World went to Snares Hill Cottage and the garden featured on the programme.

Susan Copeland, the NGS Essex county organiser said ‘I am not at all surprised that the BBC featured this superb garden. It was a well deserved accolade for Pete and Liz’.

Snares Hill Cottage is open on Sunday May 13 and June 17, 11am to 4pm

Admission: £4, child free. Home-made teas available.
