Over the next few months mobile cranes and “sizeable lorries” will be coming in and out of the Moat House site on the outskirts of the village in order to bring materials and begin building a large 60-bed retirement village.

Senior site manager from construction company ISG Jackson Gerry Roseblade said that disruption will be kept to a minimum and that residents will be regularly updated.

“We are keen to ensure residents know what is going on right on their doorstep,” he said. “Inevitably there will be an increase in the amount of traffic on the main road to the site.

“Mobile cranes will be coming regularly and people will also see some rather sizeable lorries bringing in materials.”

ISG Jackson have put a wheel wash in place on the site so mud will not be transferred to village roads and as construction workers flock to the site a separate parking area will be created.

Mr Roseblade added: “When planning the build we set aside space on site for car parking. We anticipate needing more spaces over the coming months as the number of workers increases.

“We are making arrangements for a remote parking facility to ensure contractor’s cars are not left on left on verges or roads.”
